I’ve been speaking, coaching and blogging on the subject of simplicity for the last three years, and what simplicity means has really shifted and changed over the years.
In 2013 simplicity meant ruthlessly cutting back, getting clear one my ONE big goal, reducing my team and de-cluttering my wardrobe. I ‘went to war’ on complexity as if it were just another project that needed to get done.
In 2014 simplicity meant realising more about the inside-out nature of simplicity. I immersed myself apprenticing with my mentor Michael Neill and trained as a transformative coach, all in a quest to quiet myself on the inside and have a simpler experience of life no matter what was going on outside of me. Sometimes I was successful.
In 2015 simplicity meant an investigation into how the study of simplicity could make business results easier to achieve. How could simplicity help us earn more money, faster? If I no longer have to pay attention to my noisy thinking, what difference could that mean to my bottom line?
In 2016 I really realised how much more there was to the simplicity conversation than just how to make piles of money.
And that there’s more to life than working out how to make piles of money.
And then there just was more simplicity.
This video shares what I see about simplicity today.
Please excuse the sound quality – I was experimenting with a new microphone. When I checked it back, I considered re-recording the video for you, but I knew I could never recapture the feeling behind these words.
This is one of the reasons I just love having a blog – to see my own journey unfold, and also the comments of those of you who’ve followed along as you share the journey – I hope you’ve learned something from it so far and continue to stay with me.
If you’d like to hear more about the new direction these reflections on simplicity are taking me in, and how to have YOUR life be filled with more simplicity, ease, grace and….well……life (!), please click here to join me on 10 January for my brand new webinar: The Simplicity Solution.
For those who have realised there is more to life than making piles of money.
What a great way to kick off 2017 🙂
